The mission of the foundation can be summarized as follows:

- Innovation in the field of neuromodulation
- Forming a knowledge center in the field of neuromodulation
- Forming a bridge between scientific research, medical care and the patient
In the Twin - Institute for Neuromodulation, the foundation collaborates with many different disciplines. In particular the neurosurgery department of the UMC St Radboud, which takes care of most implantation procedures, and the Biomedical Signals and Systems group of Twente University, which is involved in the innovations in neuromodulation. In addition, Twin has projects together with specializations like neurology, rehabilitation medicine, psychiatry and anesthesiology.
Since late 2007, Twin is based in the University Center for Chronic Diseases Dekkerswald of the UMC St Radboud. Besides its office, Twin has access to two modern operation theatres, as well as adequate bedding and nursing. In addition, Twin has its own transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) facilities.
